There is Hyphanturgus Nigricollis Brachypterus and then H. N. Nigricollis written above with arrows. Not sure what that means.

I think it means it could be Hyphanturgus Nigricollis Brachyterus or Hyphanturgus Nigricollis Nigricollis. I have seen some who think it might mean a cross breed, but that doesn't seem to hold up to me. Maybe a scientist reading this could clarify?

What I'd like to know is how you transcribed it! Arrows using greater than/less than and dashes?

For what it's worth, that's what I might do. These judgment calls can be tricky, but at least we're not likely to mess things up since multiple people will transcribe each page.

on your keyboard in the bottom row of letters, near the right side the symbols should be there right after the m. to type the greaterthan and less that all you need to do is hold down the shift key and push which ever sign you want. < or >
↨ = Alt + 23
↑ = Alt + 24
↓ = Alt + 25
→ = Alt + 26
← = Alt + 27Posted

Or cut&paste this: ⇄ (U+21C4, RIGHTWARDS ARROW OVER LEFTWARDS ARROW)
