This is a mysterious one. That elevation 3880-4000ft, is quite low. I think the west gate of the park sits above 4000ft.
Yes, looks like the cocoon and the insect has fallen off. We repair those after imaging.

It's a North American species, maybe it is misspelled and should be Laguna in California.

"(Scud.) is short for Scudder, he described this species in 1874. His name is in parentheses since originally it was in a different genus.

This refers to the Central Valley of Santa Cruz Island in California. It's in Santa Barbara Co.
Hi, Hobart Mills is in Nevada Co., Ca. (39.40045 -120.18382) as are Sagehen Ck. and Sagehen Hills. So go with that.
