Notes From Nature Talk
You can use the numbers on the left to give us an idea of where on the page you're having trouble.
Is there anything I should do when text is underlined? I could surround it like this ...
Also, lines 195-6 have odd lines on them.
What about the dashes around the ditto marks on the line for batch 65? What do they mean and should I transcribe them as-is?
Oh, good tip. What do you mean about sides though? Do the Scientific Names for all of them and then the Locations?
Whew, first page completed! That took significantly longer than 15 minutes... 😉
I see, thank you. 😃
I see. I tend to make posts like this when I'm new to a project, because the helpful replies like yours get me up to speed very quickly! 😃
First labeled as Veronica agrestis, corrected to polita, then speculated as possibly persica by Dr. Kral. #handwriting #unclearspecies
Habitat and Description: blades sparsely pilose to glabrous on upper surface. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glossary_of_botanical_terms
Ah, makes sense. Thanks. Unless convinced otherwise, I guess I'll put it there from now on.

Maybe I ought to transcribe the "common" check somewhere, but where? I'm tempted to put it as collector number, which is missing.
Collector appears to be McConnell, although the little c is written oddly if so.
Species field: PANICUM augustifolium (sensu lato)
Location Field: CAPE ST. GEORGE ISLAND #typo
Where is Hill's Mill? I was unable to find anything via Google, so I couldn't figure out the county.
Considering the correction made in 1956, am I correct in writing species as "Viola sagittata"?
