  I believe its just a "&" ("and")
  I think the numbers below "Tamarix aralensis" are for the time the sample was collected, 07:00-07:29 am

  You can't I'm afraid. Each record is transcribed at least 3 times to ensure accuracy.

  Definitely an '&' behind the pin. Have come across E.G.Linsley and J.M. Linsley together and separate many times.
