Crabs: other duplicate info

  • HelenBennett57 by HelenBennett57

    #scientist input please!

When two crab labels have the same info, and the only difference is that one is handwritten and another is typed, or one maybe fills in just a smidge more detail, do you want the duplicate label transcribing in the "all other text" field?

Assumption, no, just show the unique information.

You're right on target: we only want one of multiple copies. If they're different, we'll take the one with a little more detail. Ultimately, this goes into a database, so anything in a named field will get searched when we search on that field. Anything else ("Other Text") just gets keyword-searched when we're desperate, so there's no need to have a second copy in the "Other" field.

    Thanks!

By the way, this interface lets me be a little more expansive than the bug report fields. We wanted to thank you for taking on this very challenging transcription project! We're struggling with how best to provide help materials for participants (diagrams, hints, etc.). We're in a little bit of a lull (programmer isn't available to us right now), but we're working on improvements to get into the system as soon as we can.

If you've got further interest or questions that you'd like to ask directly, please feel free to contact us at the Museum. I'm Dean Pentcheff -- pentcheff@gmail.com

    Cheers!
