Should I indicate illegible/unreadable text when relevant? How?

  Can I put in filler text or characters when I can't read something?

  For instance:

  "B[illegible] St[illegible] Creek" or "B?? St?? Creek" or "B__ St__ Creek"

  I'm guessing it's "Big Stag Creek", but can't find such a location via Google, so I can't even 100% verify the country.

  No, best to skip it and put in just the bits you know for sure. Someone will pick up blanks later, so don't worry. I actually think it could be Big Stony Creek, Giles County, Virginia. (But I could be wrong!!)

  Ah, I can see that. A very loose "y" at the end - I think you're right. At least it's an actual place! 😉
