2 different scientific names

I see 2 scientific names:
- Senecio plattensis Nutt
- Senecio obovatus Muhl
Do you describe both or just 1

I think the suggestion in this thread: Conflicting determinations of species is to use the later label, i.e., Senecio plattensis in this case.
Incidentally, if you're suggesting that Nutt and Muhl are part of the scientific name, they're not; they're the scientific authors (or abbreviation).
