Image ANN00044bg - the species doesn't appear to be any bird that I can find

    Hi @Raptor8,

I've only worked on herbarium transcriptions so far (plants) so don't have experience searching for bird names, but it looks to me like it says 'Parra indica'. I did a search for that on EOL (Encyclopedia of Life, eol.org) and found this bird:

    Metopidius indicus
    Brong-winged Jacana
    Alternative name: Parra indica

Have a look here to see if it fits the locations and other info on this image http://eol.org/pages/1049293/details

    Thanks @am.zooni,
I think that sounds like the right bird! I searched Avibase but it didn't come up so will definitely bookmark EOL for future reference.
Now I need to get this transcription corrected.

Good, I'm glad I could help. If you don't already have it, you might also want to check out ITIS (http://www.itis.gov/). I find it very useful for plants, but it has all kingdoms, so might be another secondary source for you to use. The other sites I use for searches are plants-only so won't be helpful for the bird pages.
