A tough one

  Besides tricky handwriting, the name of the location has actually changed. The location is Guerette, Aroostook, Maine. Guerette was a township of Aroostook County, but in looking up the location I discovered that the state legislature changed the township name to Cross Lake in 2005.

  I'm transcribing the location as Guerette because that's what's on the card, but as a suggestion I think it would be worthwhile to add a notes or comments field for transcribers to make notations of things like this.

  I usually put the alternative/new/old name in brackets. It keeps all the record and helps with the up to date information.
