    If you still have access to that specimen or if you come across one like it (I transcribed one from 18xx today) try entering the year manually. Frankly, I find it quicker to enter all the parts of the Date by typing the numbers. Even the Month can be entered by typing two numbers (01, 02, 03... 10, 11, 12)! Same for days of the month. And it works for me in the Year, also.

    why didn't I think of that! I get so bored clicking up and down lists so some sort of control over the webmaster's ideas sounds great!
