Why general "fungi" label when there's more specific info?

I've come across quite a few of these, so I'm wondering at what point somebody will transcribe the more specific name of the fungi relevant to those data sets. For instance, I currently work on a record that clearly states (twice) that the object was a 'clavaria' -- but the images and the name on the right side, that pop up with each record, show simply "fungi." Very often, it is more specific, but I'm surprised at the high number of just generalized "fungi," as it doesn't seem very helpful to not be specific.

Anybody have any info regarding this?

Just transcribe as it is on the card. These will get picked up later when bulk database queries can be made and the specimens checked.
