Do we type what is there or type what the correct species name should be?

Is the spelling of species details critical? Clearly the spelling in the ledger is not correct or may have changed with time (e.g. for Emberiza shoensis (difficult to go back and check without losing this draft)) but clearly what is/was written there. Does one TWYS (type what is written) or type the correct spelling (I have TWIS) (or write the corrected one)?
Don't know how this feedback works but would be interested to know.

Haven't had any response to this question but work on the premise that I will TWIS as far as I can identify. Am checking species details as far as I can but am not bothering to check locality because it is too time-consuming.
