Notes From Nature Talk

Anyone know how far back the records go?

I found a collection date of "July 25/11." If that means 1911, it's far earlier than the other dates I've seen so far.

I'm new to the project, so maybe that's not an unusual date.

I can only speak for the Herbarium but before they added the new batch we had records with the problem that they were earlier than the 1880 which is the earliest in the drop down menu for "year".
Believe me, you wouldn't really miss the old ones. Some of the collectors had a handwriting which was very hard to read. I kind of like a challenge but I clearly favor a record typed on a type writer. 😄
Since the new batch is up, I didn't come across a record that was older than let's say the 60ies. Maybe they started with the oldest records and work their way up?

Oh, and hello and welcome to the project! wave 😃

Thanks for the info--and the welcome. This site is great. My spare time has rarely felt so useful.

Hiya, I've seen a herbarium sheets from the late 1800s but never had El_Lion's problem of finding something too old for the date selector... there's always a first time! Hello there 😃

I found one too old for the date selector, so I posted it in Bugs.
